Rajesh hails from Chilakaluripet, Guntur, who had to discontinue his education post tenth grade due to the lack of financial aid. He shifted several jobs – as a worker, supervisor, and a water plant installer – leaving no coin unturned to support his family. He always wished to be an Entrepreneur with his own dairy unit. However, unaware of the professional dynamics and technical know-how to run one, he was not confident about setting up just yet. He then received a forward on whatsapp about the SEEDS Entrepreneurship Development Programme in Dairy Farming which he realised to be a boon for people like him. After two weeks of residential training, one-month of apprenticeship and Mentoring and handholding for a period of 6 months, Rajesh was moulded into a successful farm entrepreneur, who not only setup a dairy farm but also started emulating the integrated farming practices that SEEDS was demonstrating at it’s rural campus in Duttalur.
“Besides the training, we were given exposure to various off-farm activities like poultry, mixed farming, goatery, vermicompost preparation, and several other organic farming methods,” says Rajesh who also started poultry and organic vegetable farming.
With the right ‘SEEDS’ of self-sufficiency and economic empowerment sown at the right time, Rajesh earns Rs. 60,000 per month today, while providing employment to four others like him.
